Examination and Assessment
The academic year is divided into two terms. A pupil’s progress is assessed throughout the year via periodic tests (pen-and-paper tests), oral assessments, subject enrichment, and art-integrated activities, as well as term-end assessments (Half-Yearly and Annual Examinations). Students are graded on a nine-point scale, and a minimum grade of 'D' is necessary to pass each subject.
Pupils are required to appear for all examinations as scheduled. In case of absence due to illness, a doctor’s certificate supported by medical prescriptions will be required. Absence for any other reason will not be condoned. If a student misses the final examination due to illness, he/she must appear for a re-test conducted at a later date. A student who uses unfair means will be given a zero in the subject and will not be re-examined.
The two terminal examinations are held in September and late February. The final report card and promotion will be based on the student’s performance in both terms, weighed equally:
- First Term Assessment: 50%
- Second Term Assessment: 50%
Promotion from Class XI to XII will only be granted if the student passes both theory and practical examinations separately. Students failing in one subject will have to appear for a compartment/re-test. Students failing in more than one subject will not be promoted, irrespective of a passing aggregate.
Pass Mark: 33%
